K9 Manners Dog Training Group Class
FREE K9 Manners Workshops are scheduled each month in the lower level of Extraordinary Ventures Conference Center, 200 South Elliott Road in Chapel Hill. These workshops are for humans only and are also orientation for K9 Manners, Puppy Primer and Puppy Catch-Up participants. We discuss basics of dog management, effective communication, and how to use reward based training techniques to set you and your dog up for success. The public is welcome to attend.
- Age: For all dogs 6 months and older
- Length & Frequency: 4 one hour classes and a 90 minute orientation
- Reward based training techniques to set your dog up for success
- Games for learning self control and cooperation
- TTouch balanced leash walking

The K9 Manners Dog Training Group Classes integrate the principles of reward-based training and the Tellington TTouch Method and are appropriate for all dogs over 6 months of age.
K9 Manners-Our beginner level class introduces the three essential skills every companion dog needs to know (self control, responsiveness, balanced leash walking) and building the bond and communication that influences your life with your dog. K9 Manners is perfect for dogs/handlers that have never taken a training class or for dogs/handlers that need a training refresher.
- Orientation without dogs: we cover basics of dog management, communication, and how to use reward based training techniques to set you and your dog up for success and introduce TTouch bodywork exercises to reduce arousal and stress
- Week 1 with dogs-introduce Attention exercises, Say Please by Sitting, settling on a mat/learning to stay, problem solving for jumping up/counter surfing
- Week 2-balanced leash walking and games for learning self control and cooperation
- Weeks 3 and 4-introduce coming when called and continued practice with settling on a mat, coming when called and leash walking
Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Class size is limited for individualized attention for you and your dog, so don’t wait to register. If you have any questions about class availability or upcoming class dates, please email us. Please keep in mind that if our classes don’t fit your schedule, you can always sign up for Private In-Home lessons. If you prefer to mail a check for payment instead of using PayPal, you may download our Registration Form and mail with proper payment.
