Puppy Plus is for puppies and handlers who have learned some basic skills in a previous class and want refine these skills and add others. We will work on impulse control exercises like “leave it” and “stay”, along with coming when called and leash walking exercises. All these exercises will be incorporated into an obstacle course with tunnels and jumps and real life situations to keep your young dogs motivated.
Your puppy will learn several simple tricks and each of you will pick a trick which you will work on over 4 weeks to show off at the end of class. We will provide a list of suggestions or you can choose your own. We will play games like “Puppy in the Middle” (each puppy takes a turn at doing a stay while other puppies walk around him/her) and the “wave” (puppies going down one after the other in a row, then back up again!)
As handlers you will learn how to fade the lure (treats in hand) and to work more with real life rewards. Attention will be stressed as the basis of your relationship with your dog, but you will have to earn that devoted attention! This class is designed to keep you and your dog motivated and having fun whilst furthering your training goals.
