Gentle handling in Puppy Primer

Puppy Primer and Puppy Catch-Up classes are designed to be enjoyable and educational for puppies and their people. In an off-leash training environment, your puppy will socialize with other puppies while they learn basic household manners and commands.

The class uses lure and reward techniques to teach puppies to sit, stand, lie down, come, stay, leave it and leash walking. The class teaches people how to interact with their pup to positively prevent problem behaviors such as jumping up, running out the door, excessive barking, and food guarding.

Poor socialization is a major cause of dogs eventually developing behavior problems. Therefore, the class emphasizes the importance of teaching bite inhibition, socialization with puppies and people, handling, as well as simple solutions for common problems such as house training.

You will learn to understand your puppy more clearly and be well on your way to a cooperative relationship with your canine family member. Puppy Primer is for puppies 10-18 weeks and Puppy Catch-Up is for puppies 18 weeks-7 months old.  The recommended follow-up class for Puppy Primer or Puppy Catch-Up is K9 Manners Plus, where your dog can continue their reward based education.
